Over the last decade there have been well publicized issues with residential buildings in a number of jurisdictions including the Republic of Ireland and Australia. Avoiding and Rectifying defects in residential buildings: legislative reforms in Ireland and Australia saw Dr. Matthew Bell (School of Law University of Melbourne), Martin Cooney (Head of Construction, Byrne Wallace, Dublin) and Dr. Deirdre Ní Fhloinn,  Barrister (Law Library, Dublin) discuss this issue. The panel were moderated by Arran Dowling-Hussey Barrister (Law Library, Dublin). In outlining the area the panel considered possible future developments in the Republic of Ireland allowing for the new government’s commitments in their programme for government.
