At a reception in London, Sir Philip Otton was awarded an honorary medal for services furthering the Society's aim of promoting the study and understanding of construction law in the construction industry.

Sir Philip Otton (President of the Society of Construction Law) chaired the launch event held in London, saying it marked an important milestone for the Society of Construction Law.

The award ceremony for the 2001 SCL Hudson Prize-winning papers took place at the National Liberal Club, London.

Professor Anthony Lavers chaired an evening of prize giving at the National Liberal Club on 1 May 2001. The main business of the evening was a premiere of the winning papers of the Millennium SCL Hudson Prize. However, the evening began with the presentation of two awards for performances on the MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration at the Centre for Construction Law at Kings College, London.
