Frank Doherty, Standards Compliance and Digital Strategy Team Leader from Scottish Government’s Building Standards Division

The 2018 Review Panel on Building Standards Compliance and Enforcement, chaired by Professor John Cole CBE, was established by the Scottish Government following the Grenfell Tower tragedy and the Edinburgh Schools inquiry. It concluded that the current building regulation system in Scotland was not broken but could be improved and strengthened.

The Scottish Government is consulting on a new approach to compliance, known as the Compliance Plan Approach (CPA). The outcome of this consultation will lead to updated legislation and provide guidance for a more robust compliance assurance regime affecting projects in Scotland.

Frank Doherty, Standards Compliance and Digital Strategy Team Leader, will update on the ongoing consultation and forthcoming changes.

His presentation will be followed by networking drinks. This is an SCL Astra Event and is open to members and non-members.
