TCC Users Committee

Victoria Russell is SCL's representative on the Users Committee of the TCC. The next Users Committee meeting will be taking place on Wednesday 10th October; the agenda will include the following:-

1. TCC Update
(a) TCC Guide
(b) New proposed Arbitration CPR P.D
(c) New Commercial Court

2. TCC Recorders; general pooling of resources

3. Lines of communication between TCC Courts and Users Groups/Committees

4. Benchmark Costs

5. State of the TCC List

SCL Hudson Prize

Leaflets have already been sent out calling for entries for this year's SCL Hudson Prize. The closing date for entries is 31st December 2001 and the prizes include £1,500 first and £750 second prize. Advocacy Training Course

Calling all solicitor advocates! Interested in the Autumn Advocacy course? As in previous years, the Advocacy Course will be presided over by His Honour Judge Humphrey Lloyd. The Course will be run in October/November. For more details, please contact Elaine Corne on 020 7300 4074.

Autumn Workshop: Dispute Avoidance and Resolution

The Society's first workshop meeting, led by John Burgess, will be held on 11th September 2001 (see Programme above). A preliminary paper will be issued soon and published on SCL's website (address below).

'Limited Liability Partnerships: A guide for professionals'

The Centre of Construction Law & Management at King's College London, in conjunction with the Construction Industry Council, has just published 'Limited Liability Partnerships: A guide for professionals' edited by Frances A Paterson and Philip Britton. Chapters cover all aspects of LLPs: legal, tax, liability, insurance and accounting. A number of the ten contributors have been closely involved in the consultations on the draft legislation, Regulations and accounting recommendations. The Act itself, Explanatory Notes, part of the Regulations, the Statement of Recommended [accounting] Practice and other helpful material is appended. At £37.50 the book will be invaluable to any professional person or firm interested in knowing more about LLPs - contact susan.hart@kcl.ac.uk
