The AGM and Annual Dinner 2001

The AGM and Dinner was held at Middle Temple on Wednesday 23rd May and proved to be a very popular event with almost 200 members attending the dinner.

It is not only the USA that can hold elections which have a close run result as the election for SCL Council members proved with a three way tie for fourth place (there being five available places and sixteen very able and well qualified contestants).

Our constitution only permitted two of the three tied candidates to be elected at the AGM. The three tied candidates were: Nicholas Gould, Corrina King, and David Risbridger. They agreed that selection of the two vacancies would be by "the drawing of lots". In the event Nicholas Gould was the unlucky candidate not selected by "lots".

The five successful candidates were Richard Bayfield, Corrina King, Barry Milton, Jim Pragnell and David Risbridger.

A copy of the Chairman's report is included with this newsletter. The minutes of the AGM can be found via the stop press on our website and copies of the annual accounts are available from the Administrative Office (both addresses at the foot of the page).

Council Meeting 4 June

At the Council meeting on 4 June the officers were all re-elected to their posts for the ensuing year. They are:
Chairman: Victoria Russell
Vice-Chairman: Richard Bayfield
Treasurer: Christopher Miers
Secretary: Helen Garthwaite

In addition, Philip Britton and Nicholas Gould were co-opted to Council.
