Sustainability is a hot topic with issues that increasingly affect the construction industry.
The JSCL invites you to join five sustainability professionals in a lively and entertaining debate on whether current sustainability regulations achieve their aims.
No prior knowledge is assumed. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the current issues in the sector.
Attendees are then invited to the Arnolfini bar to continue the debate and network!

Thanks to the generosity of Balfour Beatty and Network Rail, Junior SCL members were treated to not one but two tours of the redevelopment of Blackfriars Station that is currently in full swing. Visitors were given an explanation of the project, and its technical and other challenges, before being shown around the full area of the site, which spans the River Thames. The visits were followed by the groups remobilising at a local establishment.
Our thanks, once again, to Balfour Beatty and Network Rail for giving up their time to provide an informative and enjoyable site visit.

Skanska very kindly hosted a site visit to the Heron Tower at
Bishopsgate, in central London. The tour commenced with an explanation
of the background to the project, the method of procurement, and the
materials and methods used in construction. Then followed an
exhilarating trip to the top level of the tower (which stands at more
than 200m above street level) in a hoist, giving 360 degree views of
the London skyline. Junior SCL members were then taken back to the
lower levels of the building, some of which are nearing completion. The
building itself will be complete in 2011. Following the visit, some
junior SCL members steadied their nerves with a beverage at a local
hostelry.
Our enormous thanks to Skanska for giving up their time and providing
such generous hospitality.
